The other evening, I was sitting outside in my garden. It was a lovely quiet space in my day and I began to listen to what this time may teach me. So often the silence speaks louder than noise. So I began to put pen to paper and wrote this small poem:
“””As dusk falls, she speaks to your heart, “Its time to take a rest”, For you have given this day your very best, Some may agree and some may not, It really doesn’t matter what another would say, It matters only to your soul, so rest from your day.
For renewed hope will come in the dawn of a new morning. Before the day breaks, the birds will sing as they anticipate natures fresh adorning,
Come now you precious one, it really is a brand new day, Fresh dreams and ways and roads to travel, Or a time to try again and attain new levels.
When I was a child, an older friend once wrote, These words of love and wisdom that inspire new hope, She said, “Life is mainly froth and bubble, But 2 things stand like stone, Kindness in anothers’ trouble and courage in your own”””
Sometimes it is healing and deeply restful just to let the silence speak. It truly is amazing how clear our world can become after rest. There is a story in the bible in the book of Acts chapter 27 where Paul and ship load of sailors were in a terrible storm. He talked strategy and in his words of wisdom, he told them to eat, drink and rest. He said they had been caught up day and night for 14 days and they needed to take care of their strength.
You may have been caught up longer or shorter than 14 days, but if the storm gets in our soul, the same as the water getting in the boat, it will eventually sink us. Going through difficult times, peace is our greatest ally. From the place of peace we can see and think clearly, we can hear our heavenly Fathers voice communicating to our heart and future.
If I can encourage you to find a place that is yours and allow the silence to speak and prepare you for the dawn of a new day.
You have dreams to birth, places to go, people to meet and community to love. Let us live our best life and dream without measure.
