DIGGING A LITTLE DEEPER

Dear friends, I hope this encourages you in this journey of life we are all on. I was heading to do a task the other day and I felt like I had no more to give. Often times in life this happens. We can call it the end of the road, but so often the road is just taking a turn and its impossible to see the way forward.

These times can be a little “knock at our door” by life or God Himself. So often we operate out of the shallow waters of our remembered history and what we know and can do in the present. It seems when all this runs out, the feeling that we are finished can be overwhelming, yet it possibly is a fresh new beginning.

To pause, not quit but dig a little deeper can take discipline and focus. These attributes bring with them great rewards to our lives. Digging deeper at times feels frustrating and can seem like a waste of time but as we determine to go beyond the immediate abilities and knowledge new horizons are created.

Digging deeper can involve prayer, quiet time, learning, adjustment of areas in our life and possibly changing our vocabulary. There is not one size fits all, but the common thread is not to quit when it seems we hit the end of the road. As you begin to dig a little deeper in the areas of your life you feel are shutting down, a freshness and new possibilities begin to excite and drive you.

Just a personal note: I have stood in front of walls so high and intimidating. I have felt and still to this day in some ways frustrated by dreams I know are possible but they are buried under busyness and overthinking instead of doing. I have to make myself sit and write and study as I prefer to move around a lot. This for me is digging deeper. It requires discipline, focus and learning new things. There is more for all of us, it just takes the “want to” in our hearts to be strong enough to do what is necessary.

Always remember, when you think it’s done and over, maybe it’s a turn in the road that you will discover by digging a little deeper.

  1. Thanks for sharing. It’s good to pause and do self evaluations and ask God and ourselves, “Where am I in my walk with God? Where am I falling short? What’s in my heart? What adjustments do I need to make in my life and walk with God?” What a great way to start the new year! May you be blessed this year and May God be with you in all your comings and goings Melinda
